Nepal Visa Information

1. Tourist Visa General Rules

• The foreign tourist visiting Nepal shall be granted a tourist visa.
• The tourist visa shall be granted for a maximum period of 150 days in a visa year (January to December).
• A tourist who departs before the expiry of the visa shall not be allowed to use the remaining period by adding it to another visa year.
• If a foreigner enters Nepal towards the end of a visa year and stays across into the new visa year, they may use that facility, though fees will be calculated based on the total period of stay.

2. Transit Visa

• Foreigners entering Nepal for a night stop to catch a connecting flight, or travelers experiencing an accidental flight diversion, will be issued a 1-day transit visa.
• Applications for a transit visa can be submitted via the Online Transit Visa Portal.

3. Updated Tourist Visa Fees

• 15 Days: US $ 30 (Single / Multiple Entry)
• 30 Days: US $ 50 (Single / Multiple Entry)
• 90 Days: US $ 125 (Single / Multiple Entry)

Note: Passport holders from SAARC member states (except Afghanistan) receive a free 30-day visa on their first visit within a visa year. Visa fees are payable in US Dollars or equivalent convertible foreign currency.

4. Visa Extension and Renewal Fees

Fees for the renewal or regularization of tourist visas are calculated in Nepalese currency equivalent to USD 3 per day for extensions, along with standard late penalties if renewed past the expiry date.

5. Advice for Online Visa Applicants

To avoid long queues and unnecessary delays, please submit your online application properly before arrival. Keep your valid passport, a recent digital photograph (1.5" x 1.5"), and detailed address/contact information ready. Submitted applications remain in the system for 15 days before automatic deletion. Print your confirmation receipt and present it to the Immigration Authority along with the required documents and fees.

6. Countries Requiring Prior Approval (No Visa on Arrival)

Nationals from the following countries cannot obtain a visa on arrival at Nepal entry points and must secure visas prior to arrival through Nepalese diplomatic missions:

2. Ghana
3. Zimbabwe
4. Swaziland (Eswatini)
5. Cameroon
6. Somalia
7. Liberia
8. Ethiopia
9. Iraq
10. Palestine
11. Afghanistan
