Rolwaling Trekking

The Rolwaling trekking is one of the sound and wilderness treks of Nepal. Rolwaling trek starts from Dolakha, About eight-hour drive from Kathmandu. And Rolwaling trek provides an experience the remoteness of this region, beautiful mountain views, diverse flora and fauna, and rich local cultures. Rolwaling trek requires a good walking experience and a good physical form.

Rolwaling Trek

There is a technical route in Tashi Lepcha Pass. One should have a peak climbing permit for Rolwaling trek. The Sherpas named this valley ‘Rolwaling’ which means “The Grave” due to its location deep down between the steep ice-giants of the Khumbu region. There is a Great nunnery Gompa called Bigu Gompa. There are more than 300 nuns. In the Khumbu region, two festivals are celebrated in a year in this place like Manirimdu, it is in Tengboche Gompa. By the name of the village Rolwaling trek, in Sherpa Language Biku means "Seed". The main attractions of the trek are Gaurishankar (7,145m), Melungtse (7,181m), Rolwaling Himal, Chobabhamre, Dorje Lakpa, Yalung Ri and Pachharmo peak and other mountains, good landscapes as well as the village of Bedding, Na (4,183m), Tso Rolpa lake.

Rollwaling is a wild and little-frequented East-West valley located in Mid-eastern Nepal, just south of the Tibetan border, below Gauri Shankar (7145m). Our journey of Rolwaling trek begins with a scenic drive on the Katmandu - Lhasa highway to the ancient trading town of Dolakha. Rolwaling trek leads through one of most remote and beautiful parts of Nepal, past picturesque Sherpa, Tamang and Chhetri villages with their typical terraced fields, through dense, gloomy primitive rhododendron and pine forests and overbroad ridges with wonderful views of Gauri Shankar from Daldung la pass 3900 Mt. It is a palpitating adventure over dizzy suspension bridges, impressive gorges, and steep paths. We reach at Tashi Lapsa La (5755m), in the glaciated wilderness of the very heart of the Himalayas. The mountain scenery is stunning: Tengi Ragi Tau (6943m), Bisphero Go Shar (6729m), Dragkar Go (6793m) Phakchermo. Ramdung and countless snowy peaks. After crossing the Tashi Lapcha pass, it brings you into the Khumbu valley, land of the Sherpas. Crossing Tashi Laptsa la pass is strenuous and requires Ice or, Rock climbing basic skills.
