Where to see Mount Everest?

There is a tour of two days to three days (One or two nights - Kathmandu to Kathmandu) to see the world's highest Mount Everest (8848m).

how to see Mount Everest

Sailung (3146m) – Sailung lies east of Kathmandu. It is a rural village Municipality of Ramechhap district and the viewpoint is located (3146m) at the bordering of Ramechhap and Dolakha districts of Nepal. It is an experience of driving along the highway of Araniko, Lhamoshaghu Ramechhap and Maghadeurali. Sailung Dada (ridge) is one of the viewpoints of the world's highest Mount Everest as well as 3rd Mt. Kanchenjunga and 5th highest Mt. Makalu and more mountains. It is a mesmerizing viewpoint. Kathmandu to Sailung viewpoint distance is 132 km including bumpy road last part 23.3 km (one way 5 hours 20 minutes). There is a simple homestay available but we can also take a tent (camping). It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the viewpoint from the roadside (village).

Pattale Viewpoint (2900m) – Pattale lies further eastern than Sailung. It is one of the viewpoints of the world's highest Mount Everest as well as 3rd Mt. Kanchenjunga and 5th highest Mt. Makalu and more mountains. It is a panorama view. Kathmandu to Pattale viewpoint distance is 239 km fine along the BP and Khurrkot Ghurmi Maddhya pahadi Highway, fine road. There is a better homestay available than Sailung, no need tent. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the viewpoint from the roadside (Pattale village).

If to be covered both places above then map says 624 km but there is a short cut road which is not showing on the map. So, about 100 km will be less from that 624 km and about 50 km will be a bumpy road (not so bumpy too). There is an airport in Ramechhap (called Manthali airport) between Kathmandu and Pattale. It is the main airport instead of Kathmandu Lukla, for Everest Base Camp trekkers since last year. Pattale is a Pikey peak trek starting point as well. There is an airport about 30 km further from Pattale village. It is known as Phaplu airport. Phaplu airport is an alternative airport for Everest Base Camp trek instead of Lukla airport. The flight is available just two days of the week. Phaplu to Lukla is two to three days of trekking distance.
